Our very own Hadleigh Fulghum was recognized at the Bossier Parish School Board meeting tonight. She was given and award for being selected as as Cope's 8th grade Student of the Year as well as a plaque for her earning Bossier Parish District Student of the Year. Hadleigh is a leader in every way, and we couldn't be more proud of the amazing young lady she is! Congratulations! You are #theCopeDifference!

CMS students and parents:
Effective immediately, all NeeDoh brand toys, including "Nice Kubes," "Gumdrops," and all related slime-filled sensory products, are no longer permitted on school grounds at Cope Middle School. While we recognize the value of sensory tools for student focus, the specific composition of these items has led to several recurring issues that disrupt the learning environment. Admin has checked with our school nurse and occupational therapist, and we have no students who have an IEP nor IAP with a slime filled sensory accommodation. Therefore, if any further slime-filled toys/fidgets are on campus, they will be confiscated by administration and consequences will be given.
The decision to prohibit these items is based on the following three factors: Facility damage and cleaning cost to clean up busted / spilled slime, safety hazards, and an academic distraction as students are passing them back and forth to one another in the classrooms and in the hallways.
We continue to support the use of approved, non-liquid sensory tools as outlined in individual student accommodation plans.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our classrooms clean, safe, and focused on learning.

CMS Counseling Cougars:
April is a time of renewal and fresh starts, and this month we’ll be focusing on the
theme of mindfulness. As we move into the final stretch of the school year, it’s
important for students to stay present and manage any stress that may arise.
