The portal for course selections for the 25-26 school year will close TOMORROW, 5/2.
Current HMS students should have already entered their course selections last week as this was done in Science classes. Incoming 6th graders are completing theirs with their homeroom teachers at Princeton Elementary and Haughton Elementary this week. After the portal closes, no changes can be made to course selections.

8th Grade Outsiders Day
Thursday, May 8, 2025
In honor of The Outsiders, we’re hosting a special “Outsiders Day” where students can dress up as either Greasers (like Ponyboy, Johnny, or Dally) or Socs (like Cherry, Bob, or Randy) while we watch the movie in class. It’s a fun, interactive way for students to bring the book to life and explore the historical context of the story.
Participation is optional, and students are encouraged to get creative with their outfits while keeping it appropriate for school. Please remind your child to follow dress code guidelines and to focus on character-inspired fashion!

We don't have many extra activities going on this week due to State Testing. If you have questions please contact the sponsor.
State Testing begins Monday. It will last all week. Please do your best to ensure your child has a good night's sleep, breakfast, and is at school on time.

Our HMS track team will compete in the District Track Meet on Tuesday at Airline High School at 4 pm. Sponsors Coach Morris and Coach Hanish
Friday we recognized our Lunch Ladies for being our Cafeteria Heroes! We appreciate them for ensure our students have a hot breakfast and lunch each day.



Our 6th grade Behaving Bucs will take a trip to West Monroe, LA and enjoy a day at Excalibur Family Entertainment.
Permission slips and payment must be turned in to Mrs. Pam before school. Our deadline is April 29. If your child did not receive a permission slip and you believe your child has met the requirements for being a Behaving Buc for the 3rd and 4th quarter, please reach out to your child's teacher or Mr. Braden.

Rain, Rain Go AWAY!!!
We won’t let the rain ruin our celebration tomorrow for our students who met the requirements to Leap Off Campus. If it’s too wet, we will stay on campus (Leap on Campus?!?!) and have alternate activities. We will do our best to provide a fun day even if tonight’s rain makes it too wet!


HMS will host a volleyball clinic May 8 - 9 at HMS.

Would you like to represent our school and community as BUCKY?!
Bucky does far more than support the cheerleaders, but represents our school and community. Last year, he was so beloved that they made him the Grand Marshall of the Haughton Christmas Parade. He was asked to do "Breakfast with Bucky," for a local community fundraiser, and supports all school events athletic and community service like the Veteran's Breakfast, Military Appreciation Night, amongst more. As the HMS Mascot, you will be expected to be a positive role model for our students and community members.
In order to tryout for Bucky, you will need to:
* Sign a CHEER contract and follow the same constitution.
* Pay the $20 tryout fee.
* Be able to attend NCA Camp and be available July 5-10.
* Commit to attending all HMS Cheer and community events.
To tryout, You must:
* Create your own skit with music and props.
* Dress yourself in the BUCKY costume.
* Perform your skit with music for judges.
* Perform chants with cheerleaders using signs/flags.
* Submit your typed SKIT Script with your name on it to Mrs. Temple by Monday, May 5.
Tryouts after school, Wednesday, May 7.
Parents must be present at pickup by 4:15 pm on Wednesday.
**Late pickups will result in disqualification.**
