BPSB Scholarship Opportunities (Link to apply included) The completed application packet must be submitted through the Google Form link. The clicked link provides all the necessary information the student will need to submit their application. Please note that the application can only be completed by a Bossier Schools senior using his/her Bossier student email address. Two (2) Board Scholarships in the amount of *$2,000 each will be awarded to two graduating seniors of Bossier Parish high schools who: Will pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in education at an accredited Louisiana college/university, AND upon completion of their degree, will commit to entering the teaching profession Two (2) Board Scholarships in the amount of *$1,000 each will be awarded to two graduating seniors of Bossier Parish high schools who: Will pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in education at an accredited Louisiana college/university, AND upon completion of their degree, will commit to entering the teaching profession One (1) Board Scholarship in the amount of *$500 will be awarded to one graduating senior of a Bossier Parish high school who: Was enrolled and successfully completed courses of study at BPSTIL, AND will pursue their education in that particular course of study *If for some reason the monies for these scholarships would not be funded, then the BPSB Scholarship Committee would adjust the scholarship amounts accordingly. Additionally, there are endowed scholarships of $500 each that will be awarded as per the donor’s instructions and within the guidelines set forth by the criteria for scholarships awarded by the BPSB. Those are: The Mildred & A. J. Burns Memorial Scholarship is given to a graduating senior of a Bossier Parish high school who is majoring in education and will be attending Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. The Pat Wortman Memorial Scholarship is given to two BPSTIL students who will pursue a degree in nursing at any Louisiana post-secondary institution. Board Scholarships are funded by the Bossier Parish School Board Members, memorial donations, memorial scholarships, and contributions from community supporters. It is the desire of the board that the recipients would pursue a future employment opportunity with the Bossier Parish School System. Scholarships will be judged on the following criteria: Grade Point Average ACT Composite Score School Activities Community Service Leadership Honors—School, State & National Neatness of Overall Application Essay (500-750 words) All scholarship recipients would be required to attend a Louisiana college, university or technical school. Scholarship award letters will be sent by mail to each recipient and notification will also be sent to the high school of the awardees. Scholarship certificates will be awarded to the recipients at a meeting of the Bossier Parish School Board. Scholarship monies will be sent directly to the college/university/technical school in the recipient’s name before the beginning of the fall semester.
